Obituary

Dora "Dot" (Ruscio) LaMonica, of Marblehead, formerly of Salem, age 91, passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, June 5, 2013, surrounded by family. She was the wife of Joseph LaMonica with whom she spent nearly 70 years.

Born in Salem, the daughter of the late Antonio and Nicoletta (Colletti) Ruscio, she was raised and educated in Salem. Following her graduation from Salem High School, she attended the Hawthorne Institute for business in where she trained as a professional assistant. She began working at General Electric and was later employed by Sylvania Lighting until marrying and raising her family. A loving wife and dedicated mother she took great pride in family.

Dot was raised in Salem and lived there until the 1970's, when she moved with her family to Marblehead. She was once a member of the St. Mary's Italian Church in Salem as well as the Sodality there, She also enjoyed rug braiding, embroidery, yoga and line dancing in which she socialized regularly.

She was the center of her family and a life force that will not be easily forgotten and will certainly be missed. Her vibrant personality and humor brought her family together as they enjoyed her legendary cooking and hospitality. In the summer gathering her friends and family around the pool and having a meal was one of her favorite things to do. She loved being a part of her daughter Lisa's dance recitals.

In addition to her husband, Mrs LaMonica is survived by three children Philip LaMonica and his wife Janet and Lisa Moretti and her husband Anthony all of Marblehead
and Joan and Frank Cantarelli and their two childern Nicole and A.J. of Fairfax Station, VA, a brother Alfred Ruscio of Encino,CA, a sister Flora LaVecchio of Salem, and many nieces and nephews.

Her Funeral will be held on Monday, June 10, 2013,at 10:30 AM from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St, Salem to be followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 AM in Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 82 Atlantic Ave, Marblehead, MA. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visitation will be prior to the funeral on Monday , from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem.
