Lynn – Donald Edward Tremblay, 92, died August 2, 2019 following a long illness. He was born in Salem to Leo and Alice (Callahan) Tremblay. When he was 18 Donald joined the Navy, where he served for two years during WWII.
While in the Navy, Donald became a proficient scuba diver, and when he returned home he worked as a first instructor for New England Divers, teaching others how to dive as well. Donald also worked for a time as a bridge tender at Kernwood Bridge, and was the Kernwood marina gatekeeper. He also spent some time Donald worked at Lindenville State College as a janitor.
Donald was predeceased by his parents, Leo and Alice Tremblay; his wife, Shirley (Ritchie) Tremblay; his daughter Patricia (Sawyer) Tremblay,his son Brian Tremblay, and his brothers Leo and Paul Tremblay. Donald is survived by his son, Donald Tremblay Jr. and his wife Linda (Muzarol) Tremblay; his sister, Sr. Pat C. Tremblay, amd sister Ann Woods of Beverly; his five grandchildren, Michael and Keith Tremblay, Amanda Tremblay, and Adam and Tyler Sawyer; and his close family friends David and Doreen Inman, as well as a large extended family.
Visiting hours will be held at the Murphy Funeral Home on Sunday August 11, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM with a funeral service at 11AM, also at the Murphy Funeral Home.
