Salem Firefighter, Donald R. "Muggsy" Larrabee, age 80, husband for 58 years to Carol J. (Stever) Larrabee, died Wednesday morning, May 15, 2013 at Grosvenor Park Nursing Home in Salem. Son of the late Daniel and Beatrice (Lemay) Larrabee, he was born in Peabody and was raised and educated in Salem. Following his education, Mr. Larrabee was employed in the Leather Industry until he was appointed to the Salem Fire Department in 1968. He served the City of Salem as a firefighter for 25 years until his retirement.

Mr. Larrabee was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing in the Sports Haven Golf League and was also a member of the A.O.H Div. 18 in Salem.

In addition to his wife, surviving him are three children, Jodi Laverdiere and her husband David of Beverly; Richard Larrabee and his wife Ann of Salem; and Dean Larrabee, a Salem Firefighter and his wife Kathy of Peabody, his brother Albert Larrabee and his wife Beverly of Peabody; and his four grandchildren, Derick and Kerril Laverdiere and Deanna and Alysia Larrabee. He was predeceased by two sisters, Helen Civitarese and Blanche Fontaine.

Mr. Larrabee's Funeral Services will be held at the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor of North St) Salem on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M.
