SALEM- Donald R. Fraser (78), of Salem, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday April 18, 2023 at his home in Salem. Born in Lynn, Donald was the son of the late Grace (Caswell) and Roy Fraser.
Growing up, Donald went to Swampscott schools throughout his youth and participated in both hockey and baseball. Upon his graduation from Swampscott High School, Donald enlisted in the Air Force and served during the Vietnam War for four years. Upon his return home, Donald worked as a machinist for several companies including General Electric in Lynn. In his later years, Donald worked for GLSS in Lynn as a van driver. Outside of his work, Donald coached Lynn Youth Hockey and Salem Youth Baseball. Donald was also a proud member of the Tennant Association at Loring Towers. Donald will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Donald is survived by: his brother David Fraser and his wife Millie of Arizona, his brother in law Peter Sweeney of Billerica (formally of Lynn, his nieces and nephews Kenneth Hinrichs, Robert Hinrichs, Chuck Hinrichs, Cindy Hinrichs, Michael Fraser, Mary Voysest, Scot McKay, Steven McKay, Cathy McKay-Caouette, Jodi Guilmartin, Kerri Sweeney, Deborah Fuller, Robert Hamel, Joann Hale, and D.J. Fraser.
Graveside services will be held on Monday May 8, 2023 beginning at 11:00 AM at Swampscott Cemetery, located at 400 Essex Street Swampscott, MA 01907. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association P.O. Box 7023 Merrifield, VA 22116-7023.
