Marblehead……

Donald "Don" R. Byors, age 71, former husband of Susan (Bartlett) Byors of Marblehead died at home Friday afternoon following a long illness.

The last baby to be born in Marblehead's former Mary A. Alley Hospital, he was the son of the late Henry and Jenny (Begin) Byors. Educated in Marblehead schools and Marblehead High School, he grew up watching and helping his father in the family business, Henry B. Byors and Sons Plumbing. Eventually Don became the manager and the project estimator for all projects. As the business grew it also expanded into general construction and was later known as Ropes Construction Co for many years. Later in his career, Mr. Byors became employed by the Floor Daniel Construction Co as an estimator until his retirement. He truly enjoyed his work and being busy.

Don will be remembered by many as a character who enjoyed the Midwest and its' culture. He loved his "Cowboy" attire, riding his yellow Harley and tattoos. He also enjoyed reading and doing 3-D puzzles.

Mr. Byors survived by three children John Byors and his wife Rachel Berry of Vermont, Jason Byors of Los Angeles, CA and Justin Byors of Malden; three brothers David Byors and his wife Sally, Paul Byors and his wife Beverly and Bobby Byors all of Marblehead; thee sisters Nettie Byors and her husband Peter Hardwick, Bernice Hartnett and her husband John and Theresa Byors all of Marblehead; two grandchildren Clara and Amelia Byors; his dog and faithful companion "Tutu" and many nieces and nephews.
