Diane R. Mitchell, of Salem, formerly of Marblehead, age 64, longtime companion of Michael Quillen died Monday morning August 1, 2011 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a brief illness.
Born in Salem, the daughter of the late David and Barbara (Hamilton) Mitchell, she was raised and educated in Marblehead graduating from Marblehead High School in the class of 1964. She then continued her education at Bay Path Junior College and received her Bachelors Degree in Art History from Salem State College.
A well known and established bookkeeper she enjoyed painting, family and friends . Her travels took her to destinations near and far including Alaska, Thailand, and Mexico. She also enjoyed weekends in Alton Bay, NH. with family and friends who shared her great sense of humor. A loving mother, grandmother and friend she will be missed by all who knew her.
She is also survived by two daughters, Kristin Cashman and her husband LCDR John Cashman, USCG of Salem; Kimberly Black and her husband Darrin of Pittsburgh, PA; one sister, Cynthia Cole and her husband Kenneth of Medway; three grandchildren, Elizabeth and William Cashman of Salem and London Black of Pittsburgh, PA, two nephews, Kenny and Scott Cole and her faithful lapdog "Alton".
Her Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at 10:00 am in the Arland Dirlam Chapel of Waterside Cemetery ,294 West Shore Drive, Marblehead. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. As her request there are no visiting hours. Interment will be in Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead.
