AMESBURY – Diane P. (Dailey) Spanoghe, age 83 years, our loving Mother entered eternal rest on the afternoon of Monday, October 2, 2023 with her loving family by her side. She was our beloved Mother, Nana, Sister and friend to all who knew her.
She was raised in Rockport by her parents Edward and Catherine (Sutherland) Dailey. She attended Rockport Public Schools and graduated from Rockport High School. Following graduation, She graduated from the Salem Hospital School of Nursing and began her nursing career at Salem Hospital. Diane loved being a nurse and her passion to care for others was her true calling. Following a wonderful, fulfilling nursing career, she retired from Salem Hospital following 40 years of dedicated service.
During nursing school, she met the love of her life, Joseph Spanoghe, on a blind date. They married in 1962 in Rockport and enjoyed nearly 56 years of marriage. Diane and Joseph settled in Salem where they raised their two children, Carol Ann and Mark Joseph. She was a wonderful Mom and grandmother. She was always there when needed and was a large part of their daily lives. She had many friends and enjoyed the "Club Girls" and the "Liver Rounds" dinner clubs with her friends. She was always ready to help those in need. Her favorite quote was "My cup is always half full".
Surviving her are her two children Carol Ann Mercier and her husband Laurent, Mark Joseph Spanoghe and his wife Donna, her grandchildren Marc, Alex and Sara Mercier and Joseph, Andrew and Grace Spanoghe all of Amesbury, sister of Mary Crane and her husband Kerry, Jean Donaldson and sister in law of Janet Dailey. and many nieces, nephews, and close friends. She was also the sister of the late Russell E. Dailey and sister-in-law of the late Jade Donaldson.
Diane's visiting hours will be held at the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St, Salem on Tuesday morning, October 10, 2023 from 10 am to 11:30 am. Followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 1 Margin St, Peabody at 12 Noon. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Orne St, Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
