Salem……
Dennis H. "Danny" Dragonis, age 88, husband of the late Gertrude Blanche (Palardy) Dragonis of Salem, died in the Rosewood Rehabilitation Center, Saturday, September 22, 2012 following a brief illness.
Born in Salem the son of the late Harry and Vassiliki (Kostopoulos) Dragonis, he was educated in Salem schools. During World War II Mr. Dragonis joined the United States Navy and was proud to serve as both a ship's cook and a gunner's mate.
Following his discharge he began his working career at the Salem Power Plant. A few years later, Mr. Dragonis became employed by the A.C Lawrence Leather Co where he remained until retiring after many years.
He was proud of his family, loved his wife and enjoyed cooking as well as traveling. He and his late wife had enjoyed getting out on the weekends to enjoy big band music and dancing or going bowling. He also enjoyed Boston sports.
Mr. Dragonis is survived by five children Deborah Sinclair, Dennis Dragonis, Denise Dragonis all of Salem Bessie Dragonis of Lynnfield and Harry Dragonis of Salem.; nine grandchildren and two cousins.
His funeral will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St, (cor of North St) Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. At the family's request, there are no visiting hours. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
