Denise Amelia (Chaurette) Riley, also known as Sr. Beatrice Marie, Sisters of St. Chretienne, age 65, wife of Gaynor Riley of Brooksby Village, Peabody, formerly of Salem Willows, Salem, died at home unexpectedly Monday morning following a long illness with Parkinson's disease.

Mrs. Riley was born and raised in Salem the daughter of the late Charles and Beatrice (Tremblay) Chaurette, Sr. Following her graduation from Sainte Chretienne Academy, Mrs. Riley joined the Order of the Sisters of St. Chretienne and was eventually assigned to Mercy Hospital in Portland where she became a registered nurse. After 17 years with the order, she returned to lay life continuing her nursing career with the American Red Cross in Peabody. She later was employed by Salem Hospital (North Shore Medical Center) until retiring in 1996.

An avid card player, she enjoyed her trips to Foxwoods and her friends at the Franco American Club.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Riley is survived by a brother Charles L. Chaurette and his wife Mary Lou of Salem and her four nieces and nephews Michelle McKenna of Derry, NH, Scott Chaurette of Putnam, CT, Aimee Chaurette of New Orleans, LA and Kimberly Chaurette of Somerville.

Her funeral will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at 9:15 A.M. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor of North St) Salem to be followed by a funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M. in Saint Ann Church, 140 Lynn St., Peabody, MA 01960. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Friday from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery Salem.
