Demetra "Deme" (Patsourakos) Vallis, of Swampscott, formerly of Beverly, beloved wife of the late Harry P. Vallis, past away Sunday, May 9, 2010 at Sunrise Gardner Park in Peabody. Born in Dracut, Massachusetts, daughter of the late Louis and Pota (Boutsellis) Patsourakos, Demetra was raised in Lowell.
Mrs. Vallis was a free lance Title Examiner for many years and also owner and operator of Vallis Realty in Beverly, where she lived for many years and raised her family. She was active in the Beverly Community. Mrs. Vallis later moved to Swampscott where she lived for several years.
Mrs. Vallis was a member of St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church in Peabody and was a member of the Daughters of Penelope and the Philoptohos. Mrs. Vallis was an active member and past president of the Zonta Club. Most especially, Mrs. Vallis was a very dedicated, loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Surviving her are two children, Marion V. Powers and her husband James L. Powers of Manchester by the Sea; Peter H. Vallis of Marblehead; three grandchildren, James V. Powers of New York City, twins Marni V. Powers of Cambridge and Kara V. Powers of Pomfret, CT; one brother in law, George Vallis, Esq. of Hamilton; one sister in law Stella George and her husband Nickolas George of Salem; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Mary Salpas.
Her funeral will be held on Friday at 9:15 a.m. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor of North St.) Salem, followed by a Funeral Service at St. Vasilios Church, 7 Paleologos St., Peabody at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
