IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Delaney Moris
Weaver
November 24, 1960 – May 14, 2022
Delaney Morris Weaver was born on November 24, 1960 to the parents of Inez Weaver and Cormic Morris in Marks, Mississippi. In 1964, he moved with his mother to Queens, New York, where he resided until he left for the Navy. He considered himself a "New Yorker" and frequently donned a New York Yankees baseball cap to represent his hometown.
Delaney was very educated. While he attended a variety of colleges including Brooklyn Tech in Brooklyn, NY, he was also self-taught. He enjoyed watching the news and reading to expand his knowledge outside of traditional school curricula. Not quite the athlete, but Delaney enjoyed watching all sorts of sports from basketball to football. He was a "numbers man" and a frugal spender although he was bold enough to invest in the stock market. He didn't miss the opportunity to discuss the importance of stocks and bonds to anyone who would listen.
Delaney enjoyed good ol' home cooked meals. He never passed up on his mother's fried chicken, collard greens, okra, and white rice. He was also quite the cook himself. When he had time to cook, his favorite dishes were spaghetti, steak, and turkey wings complete with sides and a Pepsi, of course.
Summertime was always a delight. For many years, Delaney would pick up his mother from New York City and host her in Boston. During this time, the family would convene for game night, cook outs, dinner, and good times.
Delaney is survived by his mother, Inez; older sister, Nancy; younger brother, Eric; five children – Lamont, Jeneria, Stacia, Andrew, and Teresina – five grandchildren – Bryanna, Lashelle, Danielle, Aubrey, and Knox – and host of cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.
He will forever be in our hearts and we hope that he rests peacefully.
