David Wiswall

David William Wiswall of Salem, Massachusetts, and Ossipee, New Hampshire, 83, passed away on August 26, 2026. He was born in Lynn, Massachusetts, on January 14, 1943, the son of the late Eugene C. Wiswall and the late Gladys (Madden) Wiswall. David was the beloved husband and best friend of Linda Kent Wiswall for over 50 years. He was the father of Eugene Wiswall and his partner, Tina, of Salem, Massachusetts; Paul Kennedy of Amesbury, Massachusetts; David Kennedy and his wife, Marisa, of Groveland, Massachusetts; Gladys "Sissy" Wiswall of Haverhill, Massachusetts; Patrick Wiswall and his wife, Luanna, of Malden, Massachusetts; and David Wiswall of Las Vegas, Nevada. He was also the devoted stepfather of Tracy Parent and her partner, Thomas McManus, of Newport News, Virginia; and Rick Kent and his wife, Lisa, of Peabody, Massachusetts.

David was the brother of the late Ellen Forse and her late husband, Ronald; Patricia Lipson and her late husband, Edmund, of Maine; Linda Fillyaw and her husband, Othel, of North Carolina; Catherine Crowley and her husband, Michael, of Swampscott, Massachusetts; Robert Wiswall of Chelsea, Massachusetts; and Eugene Wiswall and his late wife, Lorraine, of Saugus, Massachusetts. He was a proud grandfather of 14 and step-grandfather of three. He also leaves many beloved nieces and nephews.

David was known for being a hard worker, and he took great pride in his years as a painter/carpenter. Among his greatest accomplishments was building a house and garage in Ossipee, New Hampshire, for his and Linda’s retirement. David also found great joy in cooking for others, especially his fried clams, scallops, shrimp, and baked haddock. He loved driving his tractor in the summer and plowing with it in the winter. He recently loved sitting outside with a beer and a whisky, watching the birds, turkeys, and squirrels. He and Linda enjoyed traveling together, visiting family and friends during trips to Virginia, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. In the 1980s, they took what they fondly called a 30-day “run-for-your-life” tour of Europe, visiting 9 countries. David will be remembered as a hardworking and talented man whose greatest joys were painting, carpentry, sharing good food, traveling, and spending time with the family and friends he loved.

Visiting hours will be held for David on Tuesday, September 8th at Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal Street, Salem, MA from 2:00 pm to 5:30 pm, with the Service starting at 5:30 pm.  Immediatly following the service a reception will be held until 7 pm.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
