Salem…
David Michael McCusker, age 45 of Salem , a long time resident of Marblehead died unexpectedly, Saturday June 30, 2012. Son of the late Walter and Mary Elizabeth "Betty"(Rafferty) McCusker, David was born in Arlington and was raised and educated in Marblehead.
Following his graduation from MHS, David graduated from the Massachusetts Maritime Academy (Class of 1989) where he played lacrosse, a sport he came to love from his brother Michael. After his graduation, he became employed with M.E.B.A, (The Marine Engineers' Beneficial Association in Boston) and sailed aboard merchant ships as a Third Mate where he traveled to many ports. David loved the sea. He eventually returned home to the North Shore and settled in Salem, connecting with old friends and making new ones. David began a "land" career as a Senior Growth Technician and supported R&D for GT Crystal Systems.
A devoted uncle, "Uncle Dave" brought the mischief, the candy, the scali bread, the wiffle balls, and most importantly, the laughter.
He was proud to be a part of their athletic events, personal events and "educating" them while watching the Pats, Sox, B's or Celts. He often introduced them to questionable vocabulary to describe a call while yelling at the TV to argue a call by a ref or ump. His nieces and nephews: Jessica, Sarah, Patrick and Connor Doliber of Marblehead; Ryan, Michelle, Erin and Cathryn (his adored Goddaughter) Lally of Rowley; Erin Delaney of Salem; Corey Moranda of Santa Rosa, CA will miss hanging out with "Uncle Dave" at the family gathering to get away from the adults.
David is survived by his mother, Barbara Lally McCusker of Marblehead, his sisters and brother, Mary Kathryn "Katy" McCusker and her family, Tony and Corey Moranda of Santa Rosa, CA, Sharon (Lally) Doliber of Marblehead, Martha (Lally) Delaney and her husband Jeff, of Salem, Gretchen Lally of Salem, Peter McCusker of Fall River, his sister –in- law Diane Lally of Rowley. He was also the brother of the late Michael Lally and brother in law of the late Howie Doliber.
