Obituary

David "Bruce" McComb, age 79 of Marblehead, died Friday evening, August 23, 2013 at Grosvner Park in Salem.

Born November 13, 1933, in Manchester, Connecticut, son of the late David S. and Hazel (Hughes) McComb, he was raised and educated in local schools in Connecticut. Bruce graduated from Mount Hermon School (now Northfield-Mount Hermon School) in 1951. He received his BA in Economics from Colby College and later his MA from Columbia University. Bruce had a long career in the financial services industry, working as a municipal bond analyst at Standard & Poors in New York City, but primarily in Boston. Professionally, he was a Bond Manager for Boston Safe and Trust Company for decades and later retired from the EPA, in Hazardous Waste Services in Boston. Since 1961, Bruce has been a resident of Marblehead, where his family was raised.

An avid sports fan, Bruce enjoyed attending the Red Sox and Boston Bruins with his sons, but his passion was basketball and his love for the Boston Celtics. Physically active, Bruce could be seen daily riding his bike or swimming at the local YMCA.

Bruce will be greatly missed and is survived by three sons: David McComb and his wife Deborah (Weston) of Marblehead, Jonathan McComb and his wife, Denise of Denver, Colorado, Christopher McComb of Seattle, Washington; a brother Donald McComb, and his partner, Frank Joe, of New York, New York; a sister, Susan McComb Powers, and her husband, Stephen of Centerville, Massachusetts, and five grandchildren, Emily McComb, Joseph McComb, Emma McComb, Caroline and Timothy Parent.
