David K. Dixey, age 60, of Jackson, NH died unexpectedly at home on Tuesday.


Born and raised in Marblehead, the son of Mary (Kokinos) (Dixey) McGee and the late Vincent Dixey, he was a graduate of Marblehead High Class of 1965.


He then entered a plumbing apprentice program and became employed by Joseph Graves Company of Swampscott. He later became a union plumber and previously owned and operated his own plumbing business, Dixey Plumbing, operating in Lynn and Salem.


David loved animals, especially his dogs and his parrot "Ollie". Over the years he also had box tortoises, alligators and snakes. He enjoyed nature walks, roaming the trails around the Jackson area, taking in all of its beauty. He was well known for his generous heart and uniquely charismatic sense of humor. An avid motorcyclist, he enjoyed riding his Harley and listening to Willie Nelson music.


He is survived by two daughters: Pamela Antczak of Georgetown, MA and Carolyn Gorman and her husband Patrick of Beverly, his mother Mary (Kokinos) (Dixey) McGee and her husband Jimmy of Hamlin, NY; four siblings and nine nieces and nephews: Michael Dixey and his wife Janet of North Reading and his son Brian; Dan Dixey and his wife Sue of Harrison, ME, and their daughters Amanda and Melissa; Marblehead Fire Department Chief Barry Dixey and his wife Sandy of Marblehead and their son Adam; and Janice King and her husband Dick of Rochester NY and their daughters Chris, Sheri, Jennifer, and Kim. He is also survived by many grandchildren.


He was predeceased by a nephew, Jason Dixey.


His funeral will be held on Saturday at 2:00 P.M. in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visitation will be immediately before the funeral from 12:30 to 2:00 P.M. Interment will be in Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead.
