IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Darlene Anne
Mcgrane
June 30, 1955 – February 7, 2022
Darlene Anne (Darci) McGrane, Age 66, was born in Lynn, MA and was a long time resident of Peabody, MA where she raised her three boys. She passed on Monday, February 7, 2022 at Salem Hospital following a brief illness. She was surrounded by family when she passed peacefully.
Darlene was born to decorated WWII veteran and purple heart recipient Nicholas F. Darci and Ruth P. Darci. She is survived by loving siblings, Robert Dodd (wife Nancy) of Reno, NV and Frances Kennedy of Venice, FL with whom she shared an extraordinary relationship. They were not only siblings but close friends who spoke on a daily basis. She is predeceased by her brothers, Billy Dodd of Michigan, and Arthur Dodd of Maryland.
Darlene was a graduate of Lynn English High School, Class of 1973. Following High School, she was trained as a dental assistant and worked for several North Shore area dentists. She later ran a home day care business which enabled her to continue to work while being with her children at home. She developed lifelong friendships with a community of friends that followed the same path. When her children were older she went back to school, earning an Associate Degree in Dietary Science at Northshore Community College. She worked at several North Shore medical facilities over the course of several years prior to beginning a career in the State Court system. She retired from the Salem Superior Court in July 2020 as a Case Specialist in the Clerk's Office.
Darlene was a kind, sweet soul. She had a group of close friends that she loved dearly and who are grieving along with the family at their loss.
She loved her family and especially her grandchildren. Every summer brought a trip to NH. Fun filled days were spent swimming in a lake or taking the small boat to the rope swing. Later time was spent in the North Conway area hitting all the grandkids favorite attractions. This went on over the course of 25 years. As grandchildren got too old to hang out with the grandparents, the next younger group was ready to go.
Darlene loved the beach and travel. Mostly she liked to travel to a nice beach.
She especially enjoyed a trip to Italy in 2017. It was a trip of a lifetime in a beautiful country.
We enjoyed exploring the historic sites, viewing the art and sculptures and sharing good food and wine with a group of new friends we met on the trip.
Darlene is survived by her husband of 26 years, Kenneth McGrane, her children, Jason Manni, Christopher Manni and wife Lisa, David Manni and wife Kira, and step-children Jennifer Levesque and husband Mark, and Robert McGrane.
Grandchildren: Ryan, Brandon, Avari, Thomas, Ellexia, Rosalie, and Aaron
Nieces and Nephews: Tommy Dodd, Michael Dodd and wife Patricia, William Lawson, Laura McGuire, Tammy Lawson, and Tony Polous.
