Danielle L. (Barreyre) Craig age 86, loving wife for 60 years of Retired United States Air Force Lieutenant James Nelson Craig, of Marblehead died in the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers on Tuesday October 5, 2010 following a brief illness with cancer.

Born in Villefranche, raised and educated in Bordeaux, France, the daughter of the late Marc and Louise Barreyre, she became active in the "Resistance" during World War II . Eventually, Mrs. Craig's activity brought her to Berlin where she was an activist during the Berlin Airlift and met her husband in a local officer's club. They had a brief courtship, married and enjoyed 60 glorious years together. Over the years she enjoyed cooking, family, gardening and travel.


Her funeral service will be held on Monday, October 11, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St. (cor of North St) Salem. At the family's request there are no visiting hours.
