Marblehead
Daniel Burke Foye, 67, of Marblehead, died after a long illness at Salem Hospital on February 27 from complications of diabetes. He is survived by one daughter, Meghann Foye of New York City, his former wife, Pamela Foye of Marblehead, and his brother Arthur J. Foye, Jr., also of Marblehead.
Born in Boston on February 14, 1943, son of Arthur J. and Helen Barbara (Coughlin) Foye, Mr. Foye moved to Marblehead with his family when he was nine years old, attended Marblehead schools and graduated from Marblehead High School, Class of 1960. He received a Bachelor of Science in Education from Salem State College in 1965, and later in life, a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Merrimack College in 1992.
Mr. Foye was a Vietnam Era Veteran having served in the U.S. Army for two years from December 1967 to December 1969, as a pay dispense specialist in Japan attaining the rank of SP4(T).
After being honorably discharged, he made his home in Marblehead where he owned a beverage distributorship for several years, worked for the circulation department of the Salem News, and eventually worked for Axcelis Corporation in Beverly.
In addition to his daughter, former wife and brother, Mr. Foye is survived by a niece and nephew and several cousins.
Visitation will be Monday March 1, 2010 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor of North St) Salem.
By request of the family, funeral services and interment in Waterside Cemetery will be private.
