Cynthia L. "Cindy Lou" (Candeas) (Burda) Mallard age 60, loving wife for 26 years of Herbert A. Mallard, Sr of Salem died at home Friday afternoon.

Born in Salem the daughter of the late John E and Elsie Retta (Belnaves) (Candeas) Roush she was raised in Salem. Her family later moved to Peabody where she completed her education at Peabody High School.

A dedicated wife, she was a stay at home mom and later became employed by Sylvania Lighting on Loring Avenue in Salem until becoming a cashier at Crosby's Market in Salem. Mrs. Mallard also worked at the JRC Nursing home in Swampscott and retired from Fishery Products Inc, now known as Ocean Cuisine in Danvers where she had many friends.

She enjoyed oldies music, in particular Johnny Mathis. Once the music started she loved to dance and couldn't be kept off of the dance floor. Mrs. Mallard enjoyed her home, and caring for her flower and red rose garden. Nothing was more important to her than having her immediate and extended family around her. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchild. Mrs. Mallard also took comfort in her Catholic faith and had been an active parishioner of St. James Church in Salem.

In addition to her husband she is survived by three children Kenneth Burda of Lynn, Deborah and her husband Philip Petitto of Peabody and Herbert Mallard Jr. and his fiancé Christina Gordon of Salem; two step children Scott Allen Mallard and his wife Lynn Mallard of Pelham NH and Kim and her husband Mitchell Michaud of New Mexico; 2 sisters Corrine Muse of Salem and Nancy Pais of Skowhegan, ME and several nieces, nephews, grandchildren and a great grandchild.

She was predeceased by a brother John E. Candeas.

Her funeral will be held on Tuesday at 9:15 A.M. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St (cor of North St) Salem to be followed by a funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M. in St James Church, 161 Federal St., Salem, MA. Visiting hours will be on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem.
