Marblehead……
Cynthia M. ( Bartlett) Edwards, age 77, wife of Bill Edwards, with whom she has shared 57 years of marriage, died peacefully at home early Wednesday morning.
A "Header" she was born in the Mary A Alley Hospital, the daughter of the late Edgar and Dorothy (Stanley) Bartlett. A graduate of Marblehead High School, Class of 1952, she was both an All Star member of the field hockey team and a football cheerleader. After receiving her Associates Degree from the Chandler School for Women in May of 1954 where she was the President of her class. She and her husband married, lived in Paris until Mr. Edwards was discharged from the Air Force and began their family.
From kindergarten through adulthood , she and her childhood friend, the late Pat (Crosby) Keiver enjoyed their visits to Camp Whittier on Squam Lake as well as many other adventures. As her family grew, Mrs. Edwards also looked forward to her ski trips to Stowe Vermont with her family. Longtime members of the Boston Yacht Club, she and her husband Bill have spent the last 18 winters living aboard their boat, "Cynthia" in Fort Myers where she has many friends.
An accomplished artisan and instructor, Mrs. Edwards was well known for her handmade crewel, embroidery, hooked rugs and sailor's valentines. She was an avid reader and most of all she looked forward to being with her family and spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two children, Scott Edwards and his wife Kathleen and Carl Edwards and his wife Diane all of Marblehead, four grandchildren Billy, Jeffery, Jennie and Kyle Edwards all of Marblehead; brother in law Jim Quillen of Marblehead, and all her great friends and neighbors on Summer St.
She was predeceased by her beloved sister Marilyn Quillen.
Her funeral will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 10, 2011 in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St (cor of North St) Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Friday from 3:00 PM to 7:00PM Interment will be in Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead.
