Cyndi was born in Tarzana, CA, the daughter of Robert Richards of Costa Mesa, CA and the late Gail Ann (Arbing) Richards. Her passion for sports became apparent at a young age. She played high school and college sports but most of all enjoyed beating her brother in pick-up basketball games. Cyndi graduated from Estancia High School in 1995. While in Arizona, Cyndi enjoyed weekend visits with her parents, becoming an aunt, and participating in the Arizona State University Sun Devil experience.

In the summer of 2001, Cyndi married Alex and settled in Wyckoff, NJ where they began their family. The arrival of her children Cole & Kali was her greatest joy. As her children grew, she became active at the Wyckoff Family YMCA where she became director of the after school program.
