Claire M. (Scannell) Levesque) age 74, wife of the late Louis O. Levesque, Jr. died Friday morning in Salem Hospital peacefully surrounded by her family after a brief illness.

Born and raised in Lynn she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Alice (Brunnell) Scannell. Mrs. Levesque was educated at St. Mary's Elementary School in Lynn, and following her graduations from Lynn Classical High School had attended North Shore Community College.

Her true enjoyment and passion in life was her family. Mrs. Levesque was a loving wife and stay at home mom who took great pride and pleasure in spending time with her grandchildren. After her children were grown, Mrs. Levesque became employed by New England Carbide in Peabody for many years and later by Verizon until retiring seven years ago. An avid bingo player and traveler, she was also blessed to have many wonderful friends.

She is survived by six sons Louis O., III, Joseph F., Steven R., Thomas E., James W. and Michael P. Levesque all or Salem; five daughters in law Janice, Dorothy, Jane, Christine and Maureen Levesque all of Salem ; a sister Dorothy Mamatas of Exeter, NH; two brothers in law Anthony "Nino" Rizzotti of Salem and Wayne Hill of Peabody; 12 grandchildren; three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by three sisters Barbara Hill, Ann Ackerly, and Audrey Brunnell and a granddaughter Crystal R. Cox.

Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at 9:15 A.M. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor of North St) Salem to be followed by a funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M. in St James Church, 161 Federal St., Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. in the funeral home. Interment will be in Harmony Grove Cemetery.
