Obituary

Salem, MA – Claire Yvonne (Connolly) Leahy, formerly of Salem, MA, passed away on September 13, 2017 at the Brentwood Nursing Home in Brentwood, NH.  Daughter of the late William and Bertha (Dion) Connolly, and widow of the late Thomas J. Leahy, Claire was born and raised in Salem and was a graduate of St. Mary's grammar and high schools.  She then worked for Sylvania in Danvers for over 35 years and retired in 1983 as a member of their Quarter Century Club. Claire enjoyed arts and crafts, knitting, painting, cross stitching, and bowling.

Claire is survived by: her daughter Patricia Corneau and her husband Kenneth of Salem, her daughter Elizabeth Sheehy and her husband Richard of Brentwood, NH, her son William Leahy and his wife Patricia of Beverly, her granddaughter Kristin Corneau, her granddaughter Sharyn Abreu, and her great grandchildren Toskany, Mikhaela and Treston Abreu and Haille Dichiara. She was predeceased by her loving husband Thomas J. Leahy, as well as her sister Anna B. Hunt of Ipswich, and her brother Richard Connolly of Florida.

Visiting hours for Claire will take place on Sunday, September 17, 2017 from 4 to 8PM.  An interment ceremony will take place on Monday, September 18, 2017 gathering at 9:30AM at Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal Street (Corner of North St.) and completing with a Committal service at 10:30AM at St. Mary's Cemetery, 226 North Street, Salem, MA 01970.   For additional information or online guestbook, please visit www.MurphyFuneralHome.com or call 978-744-0497.
