Claire (Houghton) Girard, age 63, of Peabody died unexpectedly at North Shore Medical Center, Wednesday December 28, 2011 after suffering a heart attack at home.

Born in Lynn, the daughter of the late Austin Sherman Houghton and the late Barbara (Martin) Houghton, she was raised and educated in Swampscott. A graduated of Swampscott High School, she had been employed by Delta Airlines for 16 years. Her primary focus in live was taking care of and raising her three children who she would do anything for. Her life centered around her family and her grandchildren.

Mrs. Girard is survived by three children, Mark and his wife Laurel Girard of Georgetown,; twins Scott and his wife Sandra Girard of Danvers and Dale Girard of Salem; three brothers Jerry Houghton of Salem and David and Charles Houghton both of Maine; seven grandchildren and her former husband Richard Girard of Beverly.

Her funeral will be held Saturday January 7, 2012 at 11 A.M. at the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal ST (cor of North ST) Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
