Claire L. Drinon, age 80 of Marblehead, formerly of Salem and Lynn died early Sunday morning, March 29, 2009 in the Lafayette Nursing Home.
Born in Boston the daughter of the late George and Elizabeth (Cummings) Drinon, she was raised and educated in the Beachmont neighborhood or Revere. Ms. Drinon was a pioneer advocating for job training and recreational activities for individuals with physical disabilities. She had been very active with the Lynn Indoor Sports Club where at one time she had served as the President.
She loved and was loved by her family and was affectionately known as "Grammie" by her grandchildren. In her spare time Ms. Drinon enjoyed shopping on QVC.
Her survivors include her daughter and son in law Tracie and Paul Lindsey of Lynn; two grandchildren Erin and Andrew Lindsey both of Lynn; a sister in law Anna Drinon of Reading, MA and a special friend Linda Robbins of Peabody and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by three sisters Dorothy Hines, Elizabeth Coyle, Mary Niswander and three brothers George and William Drinon and John Sullivan.
A funeral procession will leave from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor of North St) Salem on Thursday at 9:30 A.M. to be followed by Graveside services will be held on Thursday at 10:00 A.M. in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Lake St., Peabody. A memorial service will be held Thursday at 11:00 A.M. in the Lafayette Nursing Home 25 Lafayette St., Marblehead. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. in the Murphy Funeral Home.
