Christine E. Cook, age 57, died unexpectedly at her home in Gloucester on Sunday, May 17, 2015. Born and raised in Salem, Christine who was lovingly known as "Chris" to her family and friends was the daughter of the late Richard D. and Ann Betty (Lannon) Cook. She attended St. James School and Salem High School, and earned a degree in Cosmetology. Chris' first job was in the stationary department at Almy's Department Store and she later worked in the deli departments at both Star Market and Crosby's Supermarkets.
Family was extremely important to Chris and she loved spending time with her brother and best friend, Daniel Cook and her nieces, nephews and cousins. She also loved being at the beach and her favorite place to be was Good Harbor Beach in Gloucester. The best word to describe Chris would be genuine. There was nothing fake about her. She had the biggest heart and was always there to help anyone who needed her. Everything she did for her family and friends came from a place of pure love and she never expected anything in return. She had a wonderful sense of humor and you always had lots of laughs when you were with her. She was truly a blessing to so many of us and words cannot even begin to express how much she was loved and will be missed.
Chris is survived by her three sisters, Maryellen Morin, Patricia Barbagallo and Kelly Cook and her two brothers, Richard Cook and Daniel Cook. She is also survived by her longtime friend, Jacqui Neider. She was predeceased by her brother, Michael Cook and her sister Diane Grimes.
Her funeral service will be held at the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St, (corner of North and Federal Streets) in Salem on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Chris' memory to the charity of your choice.
