Charlotte L. Miller age 88 formerly of Evans Rd, Marblehead, died early Monday morning in Brooksby Village, Peabody following a brief illness.
Born in Lowell, the daughter of the late George W. and Marion (Andersen) Miller, she was educated in Lowell Schools until the age of 8 when her family moved to Marblehead.
Following her graduation from Marblehead High School, Ms. Miller became employed by Abington Textile for many years until the owner of the company passed away.
As the law firm of Goodwin, Proctor, and Hoar quickly learned, Ms. Miller was very instrumental, very knowledgeable and helpful in settling the affairs of Abington Textile. She was offered a position with their firm's estate settlement division where she remained employed with them for many years until her retirement in 1985.
Ms. Miller was a avid golfer and had belonged to Tedesco Country Club for several years, where she enjoyed her friends. She also enjoyed gardening around her home, bowling, cross-country skiing and traveling with her family.
She is survived by a brother Robert A. and his wife Elaine Miller of Marblehead; three nieces Charlotte and her husband David Ayles of Marblehead, Susan and her husband Frank Oehlschlaeger of Weare, NH, and Joanne and her husband David Greene of Nashua, NH; three nephews David and his wife Janet Cate of Kennebunk, ME, Robert Jr. and his wife Shoko Miller of Concord, and Richard and his wife Joan Miller of Marblehead; and 13 grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was predeceased by a sister and brother-in-law Barbara and her husband Neal Cate.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 8th at 11:00 A.M. in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St (cor of North ST) Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visitation will be immediately before the service from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Burial will be private.
