Charles "Chuck" M. Westcott, age 89, husband for 42 years of Sylvia (Fletcher) Westcott died Wednesday evening in Pilgrim Rehabilitation Nursing Home.
Born in Canada the son of the late Charles L. and Fannie (MacInnes) Westcott, he graduated from High School in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada. Mr. Westcott then was employed in the furniture business as well as a family operated foundry until joining the Canadian Army. While in the Army during World War II he was involved in store in provisions for the European Theater of Operation stationed in both England and Italy. After the end of the War he remained in the Army until 1950 when he was discharged as a Major.
The quintessential salesman he became employed in the electronics industry selling electronics for Delhi Metal Products until 1965 and later with Channel Master until 1973.
They moved to Plymouth, MA where he then became US citizen. He was involved in the Real Estate Industry until his retirement.
He enjoyed being with his family and was a passionate man of his convictions enjoying lively conversation and debate about the days affairs and the stock market, especially with his step daughter, Deborah. He was always well dressed and groomed when he went out. Mr. Westcott also enjoyed watching and playing golf, he was also an avid curler.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Westcott is survived by two step children Fletcher and his wife Kathleen Hall of Salem and Brigham and Woman's Hospital Chaplin Deborah Hall Duffee of Marblehead; four children Grant and his wife Carolyne Westcott of Toronto, Canada, Ross Westcott of Atlanta, GA, Cara and her husband James Dalton of Halifax, Nova Scotia and Jane Westcott of London, England; a sister in law Judith Grzych of Columbia, CT; 11 grandchildren; three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother William Westcott and two sisters in law Kathy Westcott and Hope Lincoln.
A gathering of relatives and friends will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2007 from 10:30 to 11:30 A.M. in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., Salem to be followed by a Celebration of Mr. Westcott's Life by his daughter Deborah Hall Duffee at 11:30 A.M. Interment will be in Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the North Shore, 10 Elm St., Danvers, Ma. 01923.
