Salem, MA – Ch (Col) Arnold Duane Westfield, age 84, passed away August 28, 2018 surrounded by family at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, MA following a lengthy illness. Born October 25, 1933 in Superior, Wisconsin, Arnold was the son of the late Arnold and Florence (Aho) Westfield.
Ch (Col) Westfield was a Lutheran Minister and Chaplain in the United States Army for 34 years. He entered service in 1957 and retired in 1991, while holding the rank of Colonel. He later became a professor at Endicott College in Beverly and taught Philosophy, Marriage & Family and Religion.
Ch (Col) Westfield is survived by his loving wife Loan Thu Nguyen-Westfield as well as: his son Alan Westfield, his son Jonathan Westfield, his daughter Rebecca Comeau and her husband Ralph, his son Paul Westfield and his daughter Tracii Schaeublin and her husband Peter, as well as 13 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He is also survived by his sister Elizabeth Fedorowicz and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter-in-law Karen Westfield, wife of Jon.
Visiting hours for Ch (Col) Westfield will be held on Friday August 31, 2018 from 4PM to 8PM at the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., Salem, MA 01970. A funeral service will be held on Saturday September 1, 2018 at 2PM, also at the Murphy Funeral Home. Burial will be held privately at the request of the family.
