Catherine "Cathy" A. Quinn Madden, age 57 years, died Friday afternoon December 13, 2013 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. Born in Salem, Catherine was the daughter of the late James P. and Ruth E. (Garrity) Quinn. She was raised in Salem and graduated from Salem High School, class of 1974. Catherine was artistically gifted and attended the Vesper George School of Art in Boston for two years. While living in Salem Catherine enjoyed waitressing at Keefe's Restaurant for several years until she relocated to New Jersey.


Catherine was a kind and compassionate person and had many close friends. While in New Jersey she continued her waitressing career and enjoyed working with her friends at the restaurant and also enjoyed time spent with her customers. Catherine also worked as a home health aide and took great interest in those for whom she cared. Catherine would return home for the Christmas Holiday and summer vacations to spend time with her family. While home she enjoyed family gatherings, visiting Pickering Wharf, Salem Willows and going to Red Sox games. Cathy returned home to her family on the North Shore in November upon her advanced illness.


Catherine is survived by her sister Joanne Quinn Drivas and her husband Peter of Lynn, her two brothers, Patrick J. Quinn and his wife Colleen of Peabody and Thomas J. Quinn and his wife Cheryl of Danvers; her step daughter Julie Ciarametaro and her two children all of Rockport; her husband David L. Madden of New Jersey and his mother Helene Rossi of Venice, FL as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews and her extended work family at the Outback Restaurant in Ledgewood, NJ. Cathy was also the mother of the late Melissa Ruth Madden who passed in 2001.

Catherine's Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 20, 2013 at the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor North Street) Salem at 10:00 a.m. Visiting hours will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the North Shore & Greater Boston, 75 Sylvan St., Ste 102B, Danvers, MA 01923.
