Caryl N. (Nolan) Welch, age 77, wife of the late J. Norman Welch died unexpectedly at NorthShore Medical Center, Salem early Thursday morning, May 31, 2012 after being stricken at home.
Born in Boston, the daughter of the late Henry L and Margaret (Schuster) Nolan, she was raised and educated in Belmont. Caryl and Norman raised seven children while residing in Salem and later moving to Marblehead. Caryl spent many enjoyable years traveling and living in St.Croix USVI, Nantucket and Ft Lauderdale.
Her true pride and joy was her family. Caryl enjoyed making her many homes a wonderful, warm place for her children, their friends and later their families to come and enjoy. She was well known for her decorating ability both in the home and garden.
She is survived by seven children, Michael J. Welch and his wife Connie of Marblehead and their children Alana and Justin; Polly Raimo of Marblehead and her children, John and Nolan; Vickie French and her husband Ken, of Etna, NH and their two daughters Laura and Beth and a son, Bob and his wife Virginia and their daughter Audrey; Paul Sweetnam and his wife Maura and their children Patrick and Keira of Marblehead; Margo Feeney and her husband Steve of Marblehead; Sarah Welch of Plymouth and her children Taylor, Danielle and Thatcher; and Amy McHugh and her husband Bill of Marblehead and their son Jack. Caryl is also survived by her sister Margaret "Peg" Walsh of Wolfboro, NH and many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at 10:00 AM in Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 85 Atlantic Ave, Marblehead, MA. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. At the family request, there are no visiting hours. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Running For A Cure.
