Carol Sczerba Rielly (April 19th, 1957 - August 3rd, 2014) died unexpectedly at her home in Ashland City, TN on the evening of Sunday August 3rd, 2014. Loved by many, she is survived and deeply mourned by her husband, John Rielly, her children: Justin Drago, Kenya Jones, Jared Castiello, Alexa Castiello, Gabriel Castiello, Julian Castiello, Isabella Castiello, step-son, Eric Rielly, as well as by loving fathers of her children Richard Drago and Alexander Castiello. Carol is also lived on through her parents, Frank and Barbara Sczerba, brother Brian Sczerba, and sister Lisa Sczerba.
Carol was 57 years old, born in Goshen, NY, and lived a varied and accomplished life. Graduating early from Liverpool High School (NY), she studied first at SUNY (Albany, NY); later studying dance at New England Conservatory during the mid-late 70s. She was a professional fashion model in Boston and Seattle through the late 70s-early 80s.
Motherhood, family life, and raising seven children throughout the 80s, 90s, and beyond, gave her profound joy. In 1990, she earned her LPN at Essex Agricultural and Technical Institute in Hathorne, MA, and worked clinically for many years. Carol and her husband, John, moved from Bradford, MA to Ashland City, TN in 2004. She is known to friends and neighbors for her kindness and compassion towards others, her love for children, love of animals, and her generosity in caring. Known for her sense of fun, wit and humor, Carol enjoyed the music and concert scene as well as traveling. She cared for elderly and disabled folks in their homes all throughout her life calling on her skills, even as a retired nurse. She designed, assembled, and sold custom jewelry and was active with many church and community services. Remembered as a wonderful woman who touched many hearts, she is deeply missed.
Carol's Funeral service will be held at the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor of North St) Salem on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. Visiting hours will be held also on Wednesday evening from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
