Carol Young Jones, 71, of Hamilton, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2026.
Born on March 10, 1955, in Lexington, Kentucky, Carol was the daughter of Ralph and Elizabeth Young. She grew up alongside her identical twin Linda, brother Glenn, and sister Dorothy.
Carol devoted her life to serving others through both her faith and her profession. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Education from Houghton College and later a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Rochester. As a wound care nurse with the Visiting Nurse Association, she became nationally recognized for her accomplishments and expertise. Carol took immense pride in her work and in the opportunity it gave her to improve the lives of her patients. Healing others was not simply her profession, it was her calling. Guided by her faith and a deep desire to help those in need, she dedicated herself wholeheartedly to caring for others and earned the respect of colleagues and patients alike through her compassion, skill, and unwavering commitment.
A woman of deep and abiding faith, Carol's relationship with God shaped her worldview, guided her decisions, and informed the way she loved and served others. Her faith was the foundation of her life and a source of strength, hope, and joy. She remained a devoted member of the First Congregational Church of Hamilton for 40 years.
Carol lived with purpose, determination, and boundless energy. She was always moving, always helping, and always finding ways to encourage those around her. Family and friends often joked about her famously brisk pace; whether walking around her yard, along the beach, or from one commitment to the next, Carol rarely slowed down.
Carol’s greatest joy and proudest accomplishment was being a mother and grandmother. Becoming a grandmother brought her immeasurable happiness, and she treasured every moment spent with Kennedy and Jamie. Her love, encouragement, and devotion will continue to shape their lives for years to come.
Carol is survived by her beloved children, Kaitlin (Kurt) Walker and Taylor (Shelby Lunderman) Jones; and her treasured grandchildren, Kennedy Walker and James Walker. She is also survived by her father, Ralph Young; her siblings, Linda (Curt) Morgan, Glenn (Elizabeth) Young, and Dorothy (Roy) Thomassian; many cherished nieces and nephews; and many dear friends who carried her through her final years.
Carol was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth Young.
Those who knew Carol remember her as loving, accomplished, faithful, and deeply devoted to others. Whether offering professional expertise, a listening ear, practical help, or steadfast friendship, she touched countless lives. Her determination, unwavering faith, remarkable gift for healing, and wholehearted devotion to her family left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
A memorial service celebrating Carol's life will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of Hamilton.
