Carl J. Poretta, age 69, of Peabody, died at home unexpectedly Monday afternoon.
He was born, raised and educated, in Salem the son of the late John and Grace (Bisazza) Poretta. Following his graduation from Salem High School, Mr. Poretta became a truck driver for John DeFrancesco and Sons in Salem for several years. Later he was a self employed contractor in the construction industry until his retirement.
He was a dedicated motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed riding whenever he could.
Mr. Poretta is survived by four children, John and his wife Debbie Poretta, Joseph C. Poretta, Gina M. Poretta and James R. Poretta all of Peabody; two sisters Virginia "Ginny" Boyd of San Diego, CA and Mary McGinnis of San Francisco, CA; his former wife Maryann (Morin) Poretta and four grandchildren all of Peabody as well as several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held on Friday at 12 Noon in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal ST., (cor of North ST) Salem. Visitation will be immediately before the
funeral on Friday from 11:00 A.M. to 12 Noon in the Murphy Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the family c/o John Poretta, 7 Charlotte St., Peabody, MA 01960.
