C. Meade "Mike" Camenga, age 86, beloved husband of the late Patricia Nichols Camenga, to who(m) he shared 58 years of marriage, formerly of Salem, entered into his next journey Thursday morning peacefully, September 20, 2012 at his residence at The Herrick House in Beverly.

Born in Brookfield, NY, he was the son of the late Carl C. and Gladys (Davis) Camenga. Mr. Camenga graduated Syracuse High School in the class of 1943.

Following High School, Mr. Camenga entered the United States Navy and served his Country honorably during WW II and the Korean War. Upon returning home from the War, he continued his education and graduated Syracuse University in the class of 1949.

Mr. Camenga started his career with Young Machinery Co. in Muncie, PA and in 1950, he joined Sylvania where he worked for forty years and four months. During his career with the company, he relocated to Salem in 1962 working at the Boston St, Salem location for the company. He retired from Sylvania as Director of Marketing and Sales in the Industrial Division Lighting Products.

Mr. Camenga was active in Junior Chamber of Commerce and was a past president of the Muncie Chapter. An avid golfer, he was a longtime member of Tedesco Country Club in Marblehead.

Surviving him are his son John and his wife Carol of Matthews of North Carolina, three daughters, Patricia Kaplon and her husband Kerry of Essex; Susan Bailey and her husband Mark of Ipswich; Catherine McClenaghan and her husband Steven of Ipswich; one brother and sister, Robert Camenga and his wife Jane Dwyer of East Syracuse, NY and Dorothy Davis of Raleigh, NC; eight grandchildren, Michael Camenga, Jeffrey Kaplon and his wife Heather O'Brien; Jay Kaplon, Chandra, Seth and Emily Bailey and Derek and Rachel McClenaghan; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Camenga was also pre deceased by his daughter Anne Camenga.

He will be sorely missed by his friends of the Essex in Salem, the residents and staff at The Herrick House, as well as his bridge club friends at the Beverly Council on Aging

His Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (Cor of North St.) Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
