Salem…….

Belmiro "Bel" Silva age 73, of Salem died at home late Monday evening. He and his partner, Filomena Sousa have shared 15 loving and wonderful years together.

Born, raised and educated in the Azores, Mr. Silva was the son of the late Antonio and Helena (deLourdes) Silva. After completing his education, he became a commercial electrician until moving to Peabody at the age of 34. Mr. Silva then became employed at Sylvania Lighting on Loring Avenue in Salem until it closed. Later, he was employed by Smurfit-Stone until he retired.

A longtime member of the C.L.C in Peabody and the Holy Ghost Society, he enjoyed spending time with his many friends and playing cards.

Mr. Silva is the proud father of four children, Victoria Silva of Salem, Paul Silva of Fall River, Lucia Silva of Rhode Island and Carlos Silva and his wife Barbara of Florida; three brothers Antonio Silva of Peabody, Theodosio Silva of Fall River and Cristino Silva of Rhode Island; two sisters Marcelina Sale of Peabody and Eugenia Lima of Peabody; three grandchildren Jeff, Kristen, and Matthew; a Godson Tyler Sousa of Salem; and many nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held on Friday at 9:15 A.M. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor of North St) Salem, to be followed by a funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 50 Walsh Ave., Peabody, Ma. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 7 to 9 P.M. Interment will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
