Beverlee Seamans Douglass, age 73, wife of the late William Douglass of Marblehead died peacefully at home on Monday, May 30, 2011 following a long battle with cancer.
Born in Haverhill, the daughter of the late Morris and Lois (Howe) Seamans, Mrs. Douglass was raised and educated in St. Petersburg, FL. There she graduated from high school, and was an active member of the church and the (non- collegiate) Beta Sigma Phi sorority for many years.
She moved to the Boston area and was employed as an executive secretary for several years. Once they married she and her late husband moved to Marblehead in 1967 and there she turned her passion to friends, being an officer in the Etchells 22 fleet and caring for her family. Upon retiring, Beverlee adored being a grandmother to Lindsay and Darby Smith.
In the fall and winter months, Beverlee loved spending her week-ends in Twin Mountain, NH where she enjoyed hiking, snowmobiling and cross country skiing with her friends and family.
Mrs. Douglass is survived by her daughter Cindy Smith and her husband Judd of Marblehead with whom she had resided, two brothers Dunbar Seamans of Maine and Steve Mullins of AZ; two nephews Daniel Seamans of DE and Howard Mullins of AZ; a neice Sara Seamans Nelson of ME and two granddaughters Lindsay and Darby Smith of Marblehead.
