Marblehead, MA –Barry F. Weed, Former President of the National Grand Bank of Marblehead passed away on December 19, 2017 at Massachusetts General Hospital at the age of 77. Son of the late Judson and Virginia (Diluiso) Weed, and husband of Lee (Bartlett) Weed, Barry was born in Beacon, New York and was raised and educated in Marblehead. He graduated Marblehead High School in 1958 and then attended classes at Northeastern University. He began his career working for the second Federal Bank of Boston, and not long after, began working for National Grand Bank of Marblehead, where he enjoyed a 48 year career, retiring as President.
Barry married the love of his life, Lee Bartlett on April 28, 1962. They had been close friends since the second grade and had been dating since high school. Barry was always optimistic and outgoing and cherished life. He enjoyed carpentry and was proud to have personally built homes for his family. He was a proud and longstanding Mason of Philanthropic Lodge in Marblehead. He also loved flowers and gardening.
Barry is survived by: his loving wife Lee as well as, his son Richard Bartlett Weed and girlfriend Adrienne Sweetser of Newton, his sister Patricia Ann Weed of Peabody, and his grandchildren, Katie and Molly Weed, and Taylor and Tucker Prescott. He was predeceased by his daughter Elisabeth Anne Prescott who passed away in 2011.
Barry's memorial service will be held on Saturday January 6, 2017 at 11AM at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, 26 Pleasant Street, Marblehead, MA 01945. There will be no visiting hours and interment will be held privately at the request of the family. Parking will be available at the Boston Yacht Club and the Masonic Lodge for the memorial service.
