Salem……
Barbara M. (Madore) Wood, age 62, wife for 36 yeras of of Steward I Wood of Salem died Tuesday morning in the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers, surrounded by her family.
A lifelong parishioner of St. James Church, she was born in Peabody, the daughter of Victoria (Cattagio) Madore of Salem the late Leo Madore. Raised and educated in Salem, Mrs. Wood attended St. James Grammar School and was graduated from Salem High School in the Class of 1965. She then became employed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Department of Revenue for 11 years until marrying her husband and beginning their family. A devoted wife, wonderful, loving stay at home mother, and proud grandmother, she dedicated her life to her family while maintaining her passion for the Red Sox. Mrs. Wood was frequently seen supporting her husband's community projects, which also included their commitment to the Boy Scouts of America.
In addition to her husband and mother, Mrs. Wood is survived by three children Michael Wood and his wife Sheila of Braintree, Christina Wood and her fiancée Jeremy Devoe of Woburn and Mark Allen Wood of Salem; her two sisters and brother Carol Cussick and her husband Bill of Pelham, NH, John Madore and his wife Patricia of Peabody and Judi Orent and her husband Perry of Newmarket, NH; a grandson Jacob Devoe of Woburn; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by many wonderful friends including Nancy O'Brien and Gail Markowicz and her husband Joe.
Her funeral will be held on Friday at 8:15 A.M. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85, Federal St. (cor of North St) Salem to be followed by a funeral Mass at 9:00 A.M. in St. James Church, 161 Federal St., Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 4:00P.M. to 8:00 P.M. in the funeral Home.
