Barbara A. (Hickson) Capellotti, age 74, wife of John Capellotti, died unexpectedly November 5, 2014.
Born in Medford, the daughter of the late Joseph and Rita Hickson, she was raised and educated in Arlington. As a child she had summered in her beloved Marblehead. Following her high school graduation she received her degree from Mt. Ida College. She worked at the Boston Redeveloment Authority and the Harvard University Library.
Barbara met her husband John on a blind date and they married in 1962. They settled in Marblehead where they raised a loving and devoted family. Barbara was employed with the National Grand Bank for many years working in the Mortgage Department.
Barbara and John were active members of the Boston Yacht Club and Marblehead Yacht Club, actively boating with their family in local waters. More recently they have wintered in Cape Coral, FL where she was active with both the Red Hatters and Bocci Club. She was an avid volunteer with the Edison and Ford Estates in Fort Myers, FL, Habitat for Humanity, Lafayette Nursing Home, and Shaughnessy Rehab Hospital. Barbara took pleasure in her involvement with the Marblehead Arrangers.
She and her husband enjoyed many good times and fond memories with their friends and family along the Marblehead waterfront. The greatest passion in her life was family but most importantly her grandchildren.
Surviving her in addition to her husband are three children, Lisa Johnston and her husband Jeff of Marblehead, Laurie Mansfield and her husband Mike of Cape Coral, FL, Lonna Woodfin and her husband Bruce of Marblehead and seven grandchildren, Michael and Wilson Mansfield, Gordie, Hadley, and Thomas Woodfin and John and Julianna Johnston. Mrs. Capellotti was predeceased by her father-in-law and mother-in-law John and Nora Capellotti
Mrs. Capellotti's Funeral will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 85 Atlantic Avenue, Marblehead. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. At the family's request there are no visiting hours. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the New England Hemophilia Association, Doug Flutie Junior Foundation for Autism, and Charlotte County Habitat for Humanity.
