Audrey Mace Christensen, age 85, wife of the late Harry Christensen of Marblehead, died Sunday morning in the Grosvenor Park Nursing Home following a long illness.
A true "Header" she was born in Marblehead the daughter of the late Raymond and Marion (Graves) Mace. Mrs. Christensen was educated in Marblehead elementary school and was graduated from Marblehead High School. She and her late husband, a classmate throughout her school years, married just prior to his deployment to the South Pacific during World War II.
A stay at home, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she was devoted to her family. She enjoyed all her family, and would take care of any of the children when needed. She enjoyed knitting and fun family vacations.
Mrs. Christensen is survived by five children Harry Christensen and his wife Marsha, Laura Best and her husband Jeffery , Rae Weed and her husband Allan, Linda Mills and her husband Mark, Henry Christensen and his wife Debbie all of Marblehead; a brother, Raymond "Monk" Mace of Beverly; a sister in law Helen Mace of Marblehead;a brother in law Ernest Christensen; 11 grandchildren Andrew, Matthew and his wife Laura, Kimberly and her fiance Greg, Michael and his wife Dawn, Brian and his wife DeeDee, Steven and his wife Michele, James and his wife Amy, Thomas, Douglas, Lisa and her husband Jason, and Joseph and his fiancee Jen; 11 great Grandchildren Benjamin, Matthew, Haley, Tyler, Mackenzie, Brady, Eben, Eliza, Donovan, Mack, and Audrey.
She was predeceased by two brothers Gerald Mace and Dana Mace and a good friend Walter Snellen.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday June 30, 2011 at 1:00 PM in the First Church of Christ in Marblehead (Old North Church), 35 Washington St., MA. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St (cor of North St) Salem.. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment will be in Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead.
