PEABODY – Armando D. Borges, age 68 years, died Monday afternoon, September 6, 2021 at North Shore Medical Center – Salem Campus.  Born in Terceira, Azores, Portugal, he was the son of the late Jose and Maria Borges. He was raised and educated there.  He migrated to America in April 1983, and has been a resident of Peabody since.

Armando was employed with Fishery Products Inc. for many years, until his retirement. He was currently working part-time at Market Basket in Danvers.

Surviving him are his two brothers, Jose Borges, Paulino Borges and his four sisters, Maria Alves, Celeçina Da Silva, Maria Faria, and Maria de Lurdes Alves . He is also survived by his nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces, great-great nephews, and great-great nieces. Armando had no kids of his own, but loved his great nephews/nieces and great-great nephews/nieces as his own. They brought him so much joy.

Armando was active in the Portuguese Community. He was a member of many Portuguese social clubs such as, Portuguese American War Veterans, Clube Luís de Camões, Hall de Nossa Senhora de Ajuda, and Holy Ghost, where he would love to meet with his friends for coffee, dominoes, and/or a game of cards.

Visiting hours will be held at the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St, Salem, Ma on Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 3 Margin St, Peabody at 11:00 a.m.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.  Burial will be held at Saint Mary's Cemetery in Salem, following the Funeral Mass.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St, Salem, MA.
