Obituary

Aristides "Steve" Lima, 80, of Danvers, MA passed peacefully at Kaplan Family Hospice House with his loving family by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal to the late Guilherme & Aurora Lima, he came to United States at the age of 19 and worked in Peabody's historic leather factories. He soon met and married his wife, and had three daughters.

A very handy man, he loved helping others using skills he prized such as carpenty and construction; he put those skills to work while volunteering in the building of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Peabody. A hard worker to all that knew him, he eventually started his own successful paving company.

He was active in and around the community, and was a lifetime member of Portuguese Americans for Higher Education as well as a member of the Holy Ghost Society of Peabody. Interested and active in politics, he supported the campaigns of several candidates and also ran for Councillor at Large in the '90s.

Predeceased by three brothers and his daughter, Elizabeth "Liz" Lake of Salem, he is survived by his loving wife, Fatima, his two daughters, Jacqueline Morani and her husband Greg, of Middleton, Michelle Lima and her partner Amorino Cataldo, of Peabody, his grandchildren, Sherry Reyes and her husband Melvin, of Lynn, Richard Lake and his wife Amanda, of Rowley, DeAnna Morani and her fiance James Condon of Middleton, great grandchildren Anthony & Nicolo Bimbo, Mya & Ava Reyes, John and Nora Elizabeth Lake, and his extended family of brothers and a sister from the Peabody/Salem area.
