Peabody……

Antonio Silva, age 92, husband of the late Maria (Mota) Silva of Peabody, died Wednesday March 30, 2011 in the Danvers Radius Health Care following a long illness.

He was born and raised on the island of Gaciosa in the Azores, the son of the late Antonio and Helen (Sousa) Silva. Mr. Silva later moved for his work to the island of Terceira for where he met his late wife and began his family. In 1971 he and his family moved to Peabody. Mr. Silva then was employed in Peabody's leather shops and also famer and raised livestock into his early 80's.

Mr. Silva enjoyed making wine for his family and friends as well as walking almost everywhere he went. He was a longtime member of the CLC and Our Lady of Hope.

He is survived by three sons Antonio Silva of Fall River, Charlie Silva of Peabody and Steven Silva of Salisbury and seven grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a son Francisco Silva and a daughter.

His funeral will be held on Monday April 4, 2011 at 8:15 AM from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St (cor of North St) Salem to be followed by a funeral Mass at 9:00 AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 40 Walsh Ave, Peabody, MA 01960. Visiting Hours will be on Sunday, April 3 from 2:00 to 6:00 pm.
