Antonio Ramos, age 61, loving husband of Maria (Machado) Ramos of Salem died Thursday August 28 2014 at Massachusetts General Hospital from complications from a heart attack one week ago.
Born in Graciosa in the Azores, he attended local schools and worked locally until moving to the United States and settling in Salem. For many years he has worked in the local leather factories. Mr. Ramos was an avid fisherman and enjoyed gardening especially growing grapes so he could make his wine.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who always put his family first.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a son Steven ,, two granddaughters, Brianna and Alyvia all of Salem and a brother, Manuel Ramos and his wife Alecina of Peabody.
His funeral will be held on Saturday, August 30, at 8:15 A.M. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor of North St) Salem to be followed by a funeral Mass at 9:00 A.M. in Our Lady of Fatima, 50 Walsh Ave., Peabody, MA . Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Friday from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem.
