Anthony L. "Tony" Albano, age 61, husband of Lisa Mae (Pitman) Albano of Salem died Sunday June 26, 2011 in the North Shore Medical Center.

Born in Peabody the son of Anthony Albano of Peabody and the late Pauline E. (Levesque) Albano he was raised by his mother and his step father, the late John Lombardi. Following his graduation from Bishop Fenwick High School in the class of 1967, he attended UMass Lowell until joining the United States Army in 1969 and proudly serving his country until being honorably discharged in 1971.

Mr. Albano then began a career in the electronics industry at Dalton Electric of Danvers and was later employed by A.E.S both of Danvers. He had received his Associates Degree for North Shore Community College and more recently he was employed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in State Trial Court in Salem. Tony's passion in life was his family, children and grandchildren. However he was always able to help to serve the community through the B.P.OE Lodge 1309 (Benevolent Protective Order of Elks, first in the Salem Lodge and later with the Salem/Beverly Lodge. An Honorary Life Member and Past Exalted Ruler, he had served in several chairs.

He was also a member of the Salem Moose Lodge, the I.C.C.,(Italian Community Club) and the American Legion Herman A Spear Post 331, both in Beverly.

In addition to his father, Mr. Albano is survived by his two daughters Kristina Amabile and her husband Carmin Amabile of Everett and Stephanie Albano of Ft. Myers, FL a step brother John Lombardi of Florida; a step sister Joanne Bates; three grandchildren Jordan Mahan, Mikayla Albano and Gerald Mahan, many nieces and nephews and his beloved cat Xena.

His funeral will be held on Friday, July 1, 2011 at 9:00 AM from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal ST (cor of North St) Salem to be followed by a funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at St. James Church, 160 Federal St., Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. Those who wish, may make memorial contributions to the Chelsea Soldiers Home, Recreation Dept, 91 Crest Ave, Chelsea, MA 02150.
