Anthony "Tony" Bianchi, age 86, died Tuesday afternoon April 18, 2011 at Brooksby Village Renaissance Gardens in Peabody. Born in Salem, son of the late Angelo and Concetta (Pasqualini) Bianchi, he was raised in Lynn and graduated from Classical High School, Lynn in the class of 1943.
Following High School, Tony was drafted into the United States Army and served his country during WW II. He participated in the Battle of the Bulge and served under General Patton. He is a member of the Purple Heart Association and the 6th Calvary Division.
Upon returning home, Tony settled in Baltimore, MD and worked as a steel worker building buildings. He returned home to Lynn and started his career with the United States Postal Service where he was employed for over 30 years in Lynn, until his retirement. After retirement, he spent winters in Punta Gorda, Florida.
Tony was an avid fishermen and enjoyed fresh and salt water fishing. He will be remembered for sharing his indepth knowledge of fishing, gardening, financial planning and where to get a good meal with an ice cold beer.
Surviving him are his sister and brother, Kathleen Flood of Malden and Dick Bianchi of Dousman, WI; his brother in law, Jim Dolaser of Lynnfield and his sister in law, Irene "Frances" Bianchi of Salem; and his nieces and nephews, Paul Bianchi Jr. and his wife Barbie of Summerville, South Carolina; Nancy Adrien and her husband Ron of Greenville, ME; Joan Aucone and her husband John of Beverly; Alice Bianchi and her husband Randy Chalifour of Salem; Joyce Seleskey and her husband Roger of Hampstead, NH; Carol Ligouri of Lebanon, PA; Christine Bianchi of Dover, NH; Connie Bruno and her husband Rick of North Reading; Christopher Flood and his wife Terry of Lynnfield; David Flood and his wife Jenny of Wilmington; Philip Flood and his wife Eileen of Woburn; Kristine Nowak and her husband Joseph of Dousman, WI, Godchild Heather Drouin and many great nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Paul Bianchi and his wife Tina, James Bianchi and his wife Florence and Albert Bianchi, his sister Flora Dolaser, his sister in law Marilyn Bianchi, and his longtime companion Ann.
Mr. Bianchi's Funeral Mass will be held, today, Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Lynnfield at 12:30 P.M. His visiting hours will be held prior to the Mass at the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (corner of North St) from 10:30 a.m. to 12 Noon. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Lynn. Memorial contributions may be made to a Catholic Organization of your choice.
