Salem……


Ann Marie (Leahy) Marino, age 53, wife of Mark Marino, died unexpectedly at home on Thursday, April 25, 2013 as the result of a heart attack.


Born in Salem, the daughter of Kathleen (Sweeney) Leahy of Salem and the late Gerard Leahy, she was raised and educated in Salem, graduating from Salem High School in the Class of 1978.


Following her graduation, Ann Marie was employed by Eastman Gelatin in Peabody for several years. For over 20 years she served as the Executive Secretary for the Second Essex District in Massachusetts, for the esteemed Senator Fred Berry. More recently she served in a role for newly elected Senator Joan Lovely.


A longtime member of the AOH Division 18 A.O.H Ladies Auxiliary in Salem, she loved the outdoors and gardening. Devoted to family and friends, she was the organizing force behind all parties and events. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her daughter Jacqueline, attending her softball and basketball games, oulet shopping, kayaking and vacationing in NH and Maine.


In addition to her beloved daughter Jacqueline, and her mother, she is survived by her two brothers, John Leahy of Jupiter FL, Kevin Leahy and his wife Bernadette of Beverly, her sister Ellen and her husband William VanLoon of Salem, and a large extended family.


Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at 9:15 AM from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St, Salem to be followed by a funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St, James Church 156 Federal St,Salem. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday from 4pm – 8 pm. Interment will be private.
