Anne Marie “Tootsie” Buxton (Morse), age 88 of Marblehead passed away peacefully on April 11, 2026, after a brief illness. “Nana” to those that love her, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Antoinette Morse (Malo). On September 21, 1956, she married William “Bill” Buxton, and they shared 48 years together before his passing in 2005.

Born on May 13, 1937, in Lynn, Anne was the oldest and last surviving of 7 siblings. After graduating from Lynn English High School in 1954, Anne prioritized her career. For decades, she worked in nursing homes as a CNA, most recently at Life Care Center in Lynn before her retirement in 2003. She was extremely proud of the work that she did. She loved her job and helping those that needed it and continued to do so long after her retirement.

Often called a “firecracker,” she loved watching her game shows and reruns of The Honeymooners. Sunday nights were spent with family watching movies and enjoying a home cooked meal. She loved New England sports, especially the Red Sox and Celtics. She also loved to cook, and was most famous for her apple pie, oatmeal raisin cookies, and meatballs. A fixture in the New Farrell Court community, everyone was welcome to have a cup of coffee at Anne’s.

More than anything, Anne loved her family. She is survived by her daughter, Judy McKenney and partner Michael Henson (Marblehead); her grandchildren: Ariel Seckler and husband Jim (Burlington) and Heather McKenney and husband Drew Marquardt (Los Angeles, CA); her two great grandsons, Joey and Ollie, her best friend and companion, Tony Mancini (Marblehead), and her oldest friend and “sister”, Alice Gallant (Beverly). She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Buxton and son-in-law, Jim McKenney.

A private burial will be held at her request. A celebration of her life will be held this summer. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Marblehead Animal Shelter at https://marblehead-animal-shelter.org/.
