Garabedian
March 22, 1931 – October 23, 2021
Danvers – Mrs. Anna (Hagopian) Garabedian, aged 90, passed away on Saturday, October 23, 2021 after a brief illness. Anna was born in Lawrence, MA on March 22, 1931 to Sarkis and Mary (Bakerjian) Hagopian. After marrying Edward "Butch" Garabedian, they settled in Peabody to start their family. Anna worked as the head cook and manager of the cafeteria at the Higgins Middle School, where she eventually retired from in 2011. When her children were growing up, Anna was President of the PTA. She attended Holy Cross Armenian Apostolic Church in Lawrence, and was voted women of the year in 1986 for the church. She was also a member of the Eastern Star. Anna loved all of the girls that worked for her, and will be missed by all who knew her.
When she wasn't working Anna loved to go to the Senior Citizen's Center, to listen to music and dance. She would frequent the Northshore Mall with her friends to have coffee, and would go to Veteran's Meetings with her partner Charlie. Above all else, she was a loving and doting grandmother, and enjoyed every minute spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and loved spending time with her granddogs.
Anna is survived by her partner Charles Boghosian, her son Michael Garabedian and his wife Marian, her daughter Ava Boghosian; her grandchildren Amy Merritt and her husband Philip, Jillian DaRu and her husband Michael, Stephanie Boghosian, Garo Boghosian and his wife Bobbie; her great grandchildren Aidan and Ailey Merritt, Lilah DaRu, Macie Boghosian, Hailey Beshore, and Sophia Grier; and her granddogs Lilly, Roxy, Coco and Maggie. Anna is predeceased by her parents, her husband Edward "Butch" Garabedian, her son, Edward "Amir" Garabedian, her son-in-law Steven Boghosian, her brother Martin Hagopian and her granddog Molly.
At the request of the family, services for Anna will be private, and under the direction of the Murphy Funeral Home, Salem. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Edward Garabedian Scholarship Fund c/o North Shore Bank, 248 Andover Street, Peabody MA 01960.
